Recently, in order to implement the State Council's “12th Five-Year Plan for Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction” and the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan for Comprehensive Prevention and Control of Heavy Metal Pollution”, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the “China Roadmap for Gradually Lowering Fluorescent Lamps” (hereinafter referred to as “Road Map”). According to the road map, by 2015, the average mercury content of China's single fluorescent lamp products is about 80% lower than that of 2010.

“The purpose of this move is to gradually reduce the mercury content of fluorescent lamps and reduce the use of harmful energy in the industry, so that the green transformation and upgrading of the industry can be effectively promoted,” said Lin Boqiang, director of the China Energy Economic Research Center of Xiamen University.

Target content is less than 1 mg
According to the reporter, the principle of illumination of fluorescent lamps determines that a small amount of mercury vapor must be contained in the lamp, and mercury is a toxic and harmful heavy metal element. Fluorescent lamps are difficult to recycle effectively after being discarded, which pollutes the environment and threatens human health, posing a potential threat to the green consumer environment.

The country earlier proposed the implementation of green lighting projects in the "12th Five-Year Plan for Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction". The "12th Five-Year Plan for Comprehensive Prevention and Control of Heavy Metal Pollution" is an important target for the prevention and control of heavy metals such as mercury.

According to the road map, by the end of 2013, we will strive to eliminate the production process of compact fluorescent liquid mercury (the production of fluorescent lamps in the form of liquid mercury or liquid mercury wrap in the production process); by the end of 2014, we will strive to eliminate the liquid mercury production process. For domestically produced fluorescent lamps with a power of not more than 60 watts, the mercury content is gradually reduced in three stages, and efforts are made to achieve a mercury content of more than 50% of the products not exceeding the target value of the same stage. According to the plan, by the end of 2014, by eliminating the liquid mercury process, the mercury emissions in the production process will be reduced by about 50% compared with 2010. By 2015, the average mercury content of a single fluorescent lamp product is about 80% lower than that of 2010, and more than half of the fluorescent lamps contain less than 1 mg of mercury.

Industry exam is coming
It is reported that advanced economies such as Europe and the United States have proposed to reduce the mercury content of fluorescent lamps. With the negotiation of the international convention on mercury, countries will gradually ban the use of mercury after the entry into force of the Convention. As a major producer and exporter of fluorescent lamps, China's fluorescent lamp industry faces dual pressures from both domestic and international markets.

At the same time, the elimination of backward production capacity has formed a consensus in the lighting industry. Previously, the industry issued the "China's lighting industry to stop the use of liquid mercury in the production of fluorescent lamps self-discipline Convention", Op, Sunshine, Osram, Philips and other enterprises in the China Lighting Association, the Standing Council of the Association agreed to agree to submit to the General Assembly for consideration.

Some insiders predict that the energy-saving lighting industry will be shuffled again in 2013. However, enterprises with fluorescent lamps as their main products will face the test of “mercury reduction” in the next few years, and the future of the fluorescent lamp industry will become a hot spot.

"The future of the fluorescent lamp industry will either reduce pollution energy and make it more clean. Or it will gradually withdraw from the market of energy-saving lamps and be replaced by other energy-saving products." Lin Boqiang told reporters that the economy is gradually developing step by step. . So now the pollution control of pollution is becoming more and more strict. Now reducing the mercury content is the development trend of the green economy. Of course, the fluorescent lamp will not disappear immediately. It will take some time to improve and be replaced.

Lin Boqiang said that from the perspective of energy saving, LED will undoubtedly bring considerable energy saving benefits after large-scale popularization. Therefore, this industry is considered to be a sunrise industry in the field of new energy. The market potential is huge, or it will become a new claim for lighting consumption.

"However, LED lighting is in an emerging stage in China, and it will take time to expand market share." Lin Boqiang said that the development of energy-saving industries still has many obstacles in China, whether it is to reduce mercury content by fluorescent lamps, or to implement new energy-saving products, cost issues. The profit problem has been plaguing many companies. This is why many energy-consuming products are still in production.
