Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) announced the launch of a new series of surface mount multilayer ceramic chip capacitors (MLCC) - VJ HIFREQ. The device features high self-vibration, a high Q of greater than 2000, and a low dielectric loss angle of less than 0.05% for operation in high frequency commercial applications.

The VJ HIFREQ family of devices features low dielectric loss angles for filter and matching networks, amplifiers, and DC isolation circuits. MLCC reduces signal loss and energy consumption in power amplifier modules, VoIP networks, mobile base stations, GPS systems and satellite, WiFi (802.11) and WiMAX (802.16) wireless communications.

VJ HIFREQ series capacitors are available in sizes 0402, 0603 and 0805, allowing designers to meet the size requirements of specific applications, operating from 25 VDC to 250 VDC and capacities from 1 pF to 1.5 nF. The device has a tight tolerance of ±0.1pF with an aging rate of 0% per decade and an operating temperature of -55°C to 125°C.

The capacitors use precious metal technology electrode technology (NME) and wet manufacturing processes to provide a variety of RoHS-compliant termination surfaces to meet application needs. Available options include a nickel grid with 100% matte tin plate (number "X") for reflow soldering assembly, silver palladium (number "E") for conductive resin assembly, and sensitivity to electromagnetic interference The non-inductive model of the application (number "N").

In addition, for applications with special requirements, these products offer leaded surfaces (numbered "L") with lead (minimum 4%).

The new VJ HIFREQ MLCC will be sampling and mass production in the second quarter of 2012, with a lead time of ten weeks (offshore) for larger orders.
