At present, the most commonly used touch technologies are divided into three categories: resistive touch screens, capacitive touch screens, and infrared touch screens.

The first is to use a resistive touch screen to detect coordinates by touch pressure, which can only achieve single touch, which is common in bank ATMs.

The second is to use a capacitive touch screen to detect multi-touch by sensing the static electricity of the human body to detect coordinates. Capacitive touch technology provides a much clearer definition than the plastic film commonly used in resistive touch, and the light transmittance is much higher, so capacitive touch screens are much more expensive than resistive touch screens. At present, the smartphones that everyone uses are basically capacitive touch screens.

The third type is an infrared type touch screen, which is composed of a light emitting diode and a receiving diode (photodiode) arranged in a frame around the screen. Usually, the light emitting tube and the receiving tube are in one-to-one correspondence and arranged in opposite directions. In the absence of object blocking, the receiving tube can receive the infrared rays incident on the opposite tube. If any object is used to touch the screen, the light from the tube will be blocked, and the receiving tube will not receive the light. The IC determines the screen coordinates by detecting the position of the light-emitting tube and the receiving tube that block the light. This type of detection, which does not require pressure, does not require static electricity from the human body, so it is convenient to use. However, it cannot be used in places where the light is too strong, and it is easily interfered by strong light. Currently used on a computer-integrated machine with touch function.
