In the aforementioned light extraction technology, the surface roughening technology has been proposed as early as the 1960s. It has been matured so far and has been widely adopted by domestic LED manufacturers, but it may also be accompanied by many intellectual property issues. . To this end, the author has only carried out a preliminary search and analysis of patents related to the surface roughening technology of LED chips distributed in mainland China, so as to enable the domestic LED industry to more effectively prevent the current patent risks.
As of April 2012, in the patent database published by the State Intellectual Property Office of China, 230 patent applications related to LED surface roughening technology were retrieved. These include 202 invention patent applications and 28 utility model patent applications (see Figure 1). From this reasoning, the quality of the patent application related to the technical subject is relatively high.
