Molex, a global leader in electronic components, has launched a vertical version of its DuraClik™ 2.00mm pitch wire-to-board connector. This new design is specifically tailored for onboard automotive systems such as steering wheels, shift levers, wiper controls, headlights, inverters, and air conditioning units. It's also ideal for electric bicycles, trucks, heavy machinery, and factory automation equipment—especially in environments where high vibration is a concern.
According to Molex’s global product manager, Ito Yasuhi, "The DuraClik connector goes beyond standard automotive specifications by offering an elastic connection system that performs reliably under high-vibration conditions. Its anti-vibration design and internal self-locking (inner-positive lock) mechanism provide optimal space savings and secure PCB retention, ensuring reliable performance in harsh automotive environments."
The DuraClik series now includes both right-angle and vertical configurations, allowing engineers to choose the best fit for their space and harness installation needs. The vertical version features a socket that aligns with board-mounted connectors, making it easier to install in tight spaces. Closed contacts help protect against dust and damage, while the internal locking system ensures a stable connection and prevents breakage caused by wire winding.
Designed to operate in car compartments up to +105°C, the DuraClik connector is built to withstand extreme temperatures. Both right-angle and vertical versions feature anti-vibration SMT technology and wide pads, enhancing durability. During automotive vibration testing, the connector can endure a pull-up force of 100N (10kgf), ensuring secure PCB retention even in high-vibration applications.
