LCD color number

The number of colors is the total number of colors displayed on the screen at most. For every pixel on the screen, 256 colors are represented by 8-bit binary numbers, which is 2 to the 8th power, so we also call 256-color graphics 8-bit graphics; if the color of each pixel is 16-bit binary The number means that we call it a 16-bit chart, which can express 2 to the 16th power of 65536 colors, and a 24-bit color chart that can express 16,777,216 colors.

At present, there are two types of colors common to LCDs. One is 24-bit color, which is also called 24-bit color. This 24-bit true color is composed of 8-bit color for each color of red, green, and blue, so this kind of LCD panel is also called 8-bit LCD panel. Each color 8-bit, red, green and blue primary colors combine to be 24-bit true color, the color of this LCD display is generally referred to as 16.7M or 16.77M. The other three primary colors of LCDs are only 6 bits each, and are also called 6-bit LCD panels. This type of LCD panel uses the "dithering" technique to switch colors close to each other and use the residual effect of the human eye to obtain missing colors. This kind of dithering technique cannot obtain a complete 8bit (256 colors) effect, usually 253 colors, then the three 253 multiplications are basically 16.2M colors. In other words, we usually use 16.7M to represent the true 24-bit color (8bit board) and 16.2M to represent the 6bit board. The difference between the actual visual effects of the two is not too great. At present, the high-end liquid crystal display is dominated by 16.7M colors.
