**Micro-Interview: Dr. Steve, CEO of PSL (Induction Technology)**
**Interview Background:**
PSL (Induction Technology) is a leading company in the design and manufacturing of sensor products, with a strong ability to understand and meet the OEM projects and sensor needs of global customers. As its business expands worldwide, PSL has established a modernized factory in China featuring advanced automation and vertical integration, along with large-scale R&D centers in Shenzhen and Virginia. To gain deeper insights into PSL’s strategy, Mames Consulting and SENSOR CHINA conducted an interview with Dr. Steve, CEO of PSL (Induction Technology), to explore the company's vision and future direction in the sensor industry.
**Mames Consulting and SENSOR CHINA: Can you share some background about PSL (Induction Technology)?**
Dr. Steve: PSL was founded in 1984 as a sensor technology-based production company. In 2005, we restructured to integrate with modern manufacturing facilities. In 2006, we launched our Sensor R&D Center and Shenzhen Sensor Technology Service Center in Virginia, USA, and set up a dedicated sensor production workshop. Our sensor business primarily serves North America and Europe.
**Mames Consulting and SENSOR CHINA: Could you introduce the core team at PSL?**
Dr. Steve: Our core team consists of experienced professionals from the industry, including many senior engineers and experts from the US and Australia. We also have a strong development team based in Shenzhen, China, with deep expertise in product development and solutions for medical devices, aerospace, and marine applications.
**Mames Consulting and SENSOR CHINA: What are the key technologies and patents that PSL has developed?**
Dr. Steve: We have developed a range of high-tech solutions, such as oil-filled cores, crystal sensor chips, metal strain films, and high-temperature inorganic bonding. We also specialize in piezoresistive dielectric glass fusion bonding and have a complete manufacturing process for strain gage forming knives. Our pressure sensors and transmitters have received national utility model certificates.
**Mames Consulting and SENSOR CHINA: What are your main products and where are they applied? Can you share any case studies?**
Dr. Steve: Our product portfolio includes piezoresistive semiconductor glass fusion bonding sensors, oil-filled cores, ceramic sensors, force sensors, and Bluetooth-enabled sensors. These are used across various industries, including medical equipment, HVAC systems, automotive, process control, marine vessels, and more. For example, our "Cloud-Based State Monitoring and Maintenance of Wireless Sensors" project supports real-time data collection in remote areas, enhancing industrial IoT capabilities. The "Heavy Truck Top Collision Avoidance System" helps prevent accidents by detecting potential risks. Our "Hospital Infusion Monitoring System" improves patient care through wireless monitoring.
**Mames Consulting and SENSOR CHINA: You offer customized sensors. How do you manage sales and after-sales services?**
Dr. Steve: We provide tailored solutions based on customer needs, including drawing confirmation, sample testing, trial production, and mass production. Our engineering teams maintain close communication with clients to ensure smooth implementation. One example is a hydraulic pressure measurement product with strict waterproofing and corrosion resistance requirements, which we successfully developed and delivered to a major client.
**Mames Consulting and SENSOR CHINA: Can you elaborate on your production lines and equipment?**
Dr. Steve: Our production includes automated SMT lines, automatic bonding and soldering machines, and fully automated calibration and testing systems. We also handle plastic injection molding, surface treatments, and metal stamping. This comprehensive setup allows us to meet diverse manufacturing demands efficiently.
**Mames Consulting and SENSOR CHINA: How does the Park-Zone precision parking system work?**
Dr. Steve: Park-Zone uses advanced ultrasonic and wide-range sensing technology to measure the distance between the vehicle and obstacles, helping drivers park accurately and safely.
**Mames Consulting and SENSOR CHINA: How do you view the TPMS market in China? What’s your strategy?**
Dr. Steve: With increasing car ownership, tire safety is critical. Our Bluetooth-enabled TPMS allows real-time monitoring via smartphone apps, offering convenience and accuracy. We plan to expand our product line to better serve different user segments.
**Mames Consulting and SENSOR CHINA: What are your five-year development plans?**
Dr. Steve: Over the next five years, we will continue to focus on innovation in pressure sensors and low-cost manufacturing. We also aim to expand into AI, medical devices, new energy, IoT, and navigation equipment to deliver value to our customers.
**Mames Consulting and SENSOR CHINA: What products will you showcase at the 2017 China (Shanghai) Sensor Technology and Application Exhibition?**
Dr. Steve: In addition to standard models, we will present updated products such as oil-filled cores, crystal sensor chips, metal strain films, Bluetooth pressure and temperature sensors, vibration sensors, magnetic sensors, and medical and AI-related sensors.
