After the three-phase AC voltage is rectified by a three-phase diode rectifier and filtered by the DC side capacitor, the DC side of some drives may also have an inductance in series. The rectified DC voltage is reversed via a voltage source inverter (VSC) to an AC voltage with a variable frequency and amplitude.

When the electromagnetic contact is disturbed by the voltage sag, the current flowing through the coil will become smaller as the voltage becomes smaller.
