The development of a smart countryside must first ensure the safety of farmers' lives and property. Unlike cities, rural areas often feature more complex and diverse geographical environments, with potential risks such as natural disasters in mountainous regions, forests, and water areas. Villagers need constant vigilance and timely prevention measures. Traditional manual monitoring methods are often inefficient and unable to handle unexpected situations. Finally, improving the quality of life for farmers should be a continuous goal of smart rural development. While it's true that urban areas currently dominate access to medical care, education, culture, and entertainment, these resources are just as essential for rural populations. IoT can help bridge this gap by facilitating the sharing of urban resources, making distance no longer a barrier.
Telemedicine, online learning, and digital libraries are becoming more common, allowing rural residents to access high-quality services without traveling long distances. Though less visible than building infrastructure, these innovations contribute significantly to the soft power of urbanization.
To realize the vision of smart rural development, the first step is to expand IoT coverage across vast rural regions. Besides the major telecom operators, the radio and television sector has also taken action, launching a nationwide super Wi-Fi IoT initiative. As the basic network improves, IoT applications in rural areas will continue to grow. Smart village development will progress alongside smart cities, paving the way for a smarter future that benefits everyone.
