Hey everyone, greetings from abroad! I recently got my hands on an overseas version of a MacBook Pro (13-inch model). I placed my order through Apple's official website, and their delivery notice mentioned a waiting period of around four weeks. Patience paid off because I finally received it just as I had hoped. Now, I’ve seen many reviews about this model, particularly regarding the Touch Bar, but most lack detailed descriptions, so I decided to share my experience.
For those who want to know where I purchased it, here’s the direct link to Apple’s UK site where you can check out the MacBook Pro:

And if you're in China, you can also find custom configurations on Apple's Chinese website here:

The top-tier configuration costs £2,799.00 in the UK, which roughly translates to around RMB 23,942.77 using the current exchange rate of 8.55. Even though the pound is currently weak, it doesn’t seem like buying it through international channels would save much money compared to purchasing directly from China. Interestingly, major domestic e-commerce platforms like JD.com or Suning don’t offer the top-tier model with a 1TB hard drive.
Alright, enough about shopping, let’s talk about the laptop itself. The design is sleek, lightweight, and visually appealing. The Apple logo isn’t backlit, which I personally prefer. All the ports are Type-C, meaning you can plug it into any side—super convenient! However, the lack of widespread adoption for Type-C means you’ll likely still need adapters for older devices like USB drives.
When I powered it on, the first thing that struck me was the absence of a physical Escape key. Instead, there’s now a virtual keyboard with a Touch Bar. It’s an interesting concept, and while its utility isn’t fully realized yet, it’s definitely a bold move by Apple. Let me walk you through some examples:
For instance, when composing emails, the Touch Bar dynamically changes to display relevant functions like “New,†“Reply All,†“Archive,†and even volume controls:

While typing in Word, it offers quick formatting options like font size adjustments, bolding, or adding emojis:

In Terminal, the Touch Bar allows you to quickly access manual pages for commands like `ls`:

It also includes a handy color picker tool for tweaking Terminal colors:

Overall, the Touch Bar feels like a promising feature, though its practicality will depend on how developers integrate it into future applications.
Now, onto the hardware specs: the laptop comes equipped with a 3.5GHz Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD. These specs should cater to most users' needs, whether they’re working or gaming. That said, the price tag is steep, especially when compared to similar configurations in other countries.
On the plus side, macOS is completely new to me, so everything feels fresh, especially the innovative Touch Bar. The build quality is excellent, as expected from Apple, with a satisfyingly tactile keyboard and trackpad. The Type-C port is versatile and eliminates the hassle of finding the correct orientation for charging cables.
However, there are downsides. While the Type-C standard is convenient, its limited ecosystem means you'll probably need additional adapters for peripherals like USB drives. And then there’s the price—it’s undeniably expensive.
To summarize, the MacBook Pro is a solid machine with cutting-edge features like the Touch Bar and top-notch performance. But whether it’s worth the premium depends on your budget and specific needs.
