The circuit of the negative power generator is shown in the figure (a) on the right. There are exactly six CMOS inverters in a CD4069, which are fully utilized in the figure. The inverters I and II form an oscillator, which generates a rectangular wave. The inverter III-VI is connected in parallel to shape the waveform of the oscillator output. The purpose of the parallel connection is to increase the driving capability of the circuit. C2, C3, VD1 and VD2 form the rectifier circuit output. When the power supply voltage is VDD and the load resistance is greater than 250R, the output voltage Vo is -VDD. If the load resistance is small, the output negative voltage amplitude will drop. The picture on the right (b) is a simplified negative power generator that uses only three good inverters in the CD4069. The other three inverters can be used for other purposes, but the load capacity of this circuit is weaker than the above circuit. When VDD is 5V, the no-load output voltage is -3V; when the load resistance is 430R, the output voltage is -2V; when the load resistance is 200R, the output voltage is -1.5V; when the load is l00R, the output is only -1V . To increase the magnitude of the negative voltage, increase the value of VDD. Both of VD1 and VD2 in the above two circuits can use a 1N60 isotropic diode.
