Recently, the National Radio and Television Products Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, together with the State General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, carried out surprise inspections on TV receiver products available on the market. The findings revealed that 20% of these products failed to meet the standards, with issues like inconsistent quality and radiation levels significantly exceeding national regulations. Clearly, excessive radiation from TVs poses a threat to consumer health. So, how can we ensure that we purchase safe and healthy TV units? To address this concern, I recently spoke with industry experts who provided valuable guidance for consumers.
First and foremost, it’s crucial to opt for TVs manufactured by reputable brands. This is key to avoiding buyer's remorse. Sample tests indicated that products from major well-known brands achieved a qualification rate exceeding 95%. Additionally, always choose products with CCC certification. Since March 2006, the state has mandated CCC certification for electrical safety, meaning products with this certification can be trusted. Notably, leading brands such as Changhong, Skyworth, TCL, and Hisense were among the first to obtain national CCC certification.
Experts also stressed the importance of selecting TVs with low radiation levels. Given that TV radiation can cause significant harm to eyes and skin, the state mandates that radiation levels should not exceed 0.5 millitons. Most branded products on the market comply with these standards, with some even achieving radiation levels just a thousandth of the permitted limit. For instance, Skyworth’s health-focused TV series employs dynamic radiation suppression circuits, resulting in radiation levels as low as 0.017 millitons.
In light of the growing influx of pseudo-HD TVs flooding the market, consumers are advised to prioritize products with high visual resolution. True HD offerings currently available include Changhong’s “dual-mode†ultra-slim HD TV series, Sony’s Guixiang series, Toshiba’s Feishi series, and Skyworth’s V12 digital series. These models typically feature an HD logo on the upper right corner of the screen.
Another trend worth considering is the preference for slim designs. Leading domestic and international manufacturers have introduced short-tube CRTs, combining the sleekness of flat-panel TVs with traditional CRT benefits. This innovative product has gained significant consumer favor. Statistics show that during the recent Golden Week, sales of short-tube CRTs were impressive, particularly Skyworth’s 29D9AHT short-tube HD model, thanks to its stylish European-inspired design.
Finally, consider purchasing during promotional events to secure better value. Consumers can often enjoy discounted prices and additional perks, making it a savvy decision.
For those interested in smart TVs or streaming devices, platforms like the Smart TV Information Network (http://) offer comprehensive resources on smart TV boxes, software, and related content. As China’s premier destination for TV box and smart TV information, it serves as an excellent resource for enthusiasts and buyers alike.
By following these guidelines, consumers can make informed decisions and enjoy the benefits of a safe, high-quality TV experience.
